Hey uhh silly question, how many of you are still running the original split rims on your trucks, and those who are not? Are you just running chevy 3/4 ton wheels?

well, i am half and half on my 49 3600. the rear are the 15" split and the front are 16" late model rims that i added clips to for the hub caps. i have since found 2 more 15,s and will place them on the front. the local tire store has no problem mounting these rims.

I am running them on my 1946 3600. They are 15" 8 lug lock-ring type split rims. I've got 235/75R15 tires on them, and the radial makes it much nicer to drive.

Unless you know EXACTLY what you're doing, I'd take them to a farm implement store and have them mounted there -- or if you've got an industrial tire supplier nearby, they can do it for you too.

I am running 8-lug modern steels off a 91 Chev Suburban. I modified my steering arms and tie-rod for clearance. Large truck tire shops would work on them but they were all different sizes to. 2-15" on front one 16" and one 17" on the rear? These old trucks lead interesting lives over the years. I purchased commercial T/A's for my steel wheels and the are tall and skinny like the originals with modern performance and ease of maintenance.

I'm running new Pacer brand 16" wheels that have a 3.62 inch backspacing. Here is the info.

Wheel size is 16X7
Bolt circle is 8X6.5
Backspacing is 3.62 inches
This back spacing clears the steering arms and even leaves enough room for wheel weights when balancing.
The tires are radial 235/85 R16.
BTW mine is a 3800 but I think the wheel issue is the same as the 3600.

Huh, well I can certainly have someone local put some tires on it for me, I kind of figured the split rims would be a real big problem but I am in a small community so I am sure I can find someone to do it.

Mikes 63 Do you have any pics of your truck when it was a flatbed?

My bed is in pretty rough shape; I need to redo the wood, and then buy two rear fenders, or...make into a flatbed. I have work for a mechanical contractor so getting steel is no problem and welding is no problem, my question was simply how the flat bed connects to the frame. I am sure I will see this once I remove my bed but I was wondering if you had any of these pics to give me an idea.

I ran the original 17" 3 piece lock ring wheels on my 3800 for several years, and will again if I ever get it back together. Although if I found a set of single wheel 8 lug 19.5" wheels I'd run them with 8R19.5 tires.

Still running the original 15" two-piece rims on my 50 3600. Used 23575R15's on front and two brand-new 7.00-15 bias Power Kings on the back. I love 'em. Of the 5 wheels I broke down 3 myself but did pay a local farm/truck tire shop to dismount the rear ones. After wire brushing and new paint I mounted all replacement tires myself.

I'm running the original 1 piece 5.25 x 19.5 inch rims with 8R19.5 tires.
