First of all let me start by saying i loved my truck until i had to change the front brakes out yesterday. Second we ran into a problem and may have solved it wrong but we solved none the less. Our problem was that on the front brake drums they had rivets holding them on is that factory or is it cool that they are no longer there? Just need to know before i am driving down the road and something bad happens. Thanks Justin

Don't worry too much about it. Those rivets are factory, mainly they were for holding the front hub/brearing/drumm assembly together for easier shipping/installation purposes at the factory. Removing them will not hurt a thing.

No need to replace them either.

Unless you want to.

Sweet i thought that but when we started trying to get the drum off i noticed it would not come off past the rivets so i a couple hours later after trying i got mad enough to knock the rivets off.

It,s best to take them off. They interfear with some custom wheels.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

duckhunter65:

The factory drums should slide off and on the hubs with no obstructions. You should be good to go.

The only time I've cut the rivets off a front drum is when the drums needed to be replaced. Just take the spindle nut off, and slide hub, drum and all off the spindle. It's easier and more accurate to machine the drums using the bearing races as centering points, too.

Yeah, in the house my least favorite - plumbing. In the garage - brakes! Both are worth doing well. grin
