For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 34 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 34 | First of all let me start by saying i loved my truck until i had to change the front brakes out yesterday. Second we ran into a problem and may have solved it wrong but we solved none the less. Our problem was that on the front brake drums they had rivets holding them on is that factory or is it cool that they are no longer there? Just need to know before i am driving down the road and something bad happens. Those rivets are factory, mainly they were for holding the front hub/brearing/drumm assembly together for easier shipping/installation purposes at the factory. Removing them will not hurt a thing.

They interfear with some custom wheels. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. The factory drums should slide off and on the hubs with no obstructions. You should be good to go.

Just take the spindle nut off, and slide hub, drum and all off the spindle. It's easier and more accurate to machine the drums using the bearing races as centering points, too. Jerry
