I'm finally driving it!! Here I am, parked on the street at work!

Today picture

I drove it around a little bit last week, but the rearend howled like a mountain cat in heat. Just finished up getting a '69 Chevy 1/2 ton 12 bolt in last night, now I can hear all the rattles! It's on to fixing up all the other stuff.

Still need to get the gauge cluster installed, along with a bunch of new parts I ordered. Speedo cable, fuel sending unit, and get the charging system going. Needs rear shocks, too.

I'm excited I'll be daily driving my '57 on its 50th anniversary, and on the 30th of this month I'll have had this truck exactly a year and a half!!

Before picture

Here's what it looked like when I got it 10/30/05, the previous owner dismantled it completely to "Pro-Street" it, he got overwhelmed before he could screw it up too bad.

I'm just excited to be driving my "new" old truck!!

It came a long way, good job. I give you credit too for driving it without a gauge cluster.

I have always thought the 55-58 trucks are the best looking GM ever built. When I finish my AD I think I'll look for one of those.
Good work, I'm jealous!!!

Way to go!! grin grin grin Another one is saved!! Quite often when they are that far apart and the owner loses ambition, they get their parts divided and sold, never to be whole again.

Good Job smile smile smile

Thanks for the good words, guys!! I'm just jazzed to have it rolling down the road!

The speedometer is coming, along with the fuel gauge. Two things I don't want to be without on a daily! I have aftermarket oil pressure and water temp gauges under the dash until I get the factory stuff hooked up correctly. There's something to be said about an old truck (or car) with everything in the dash working as designed.

Big Chevy, it's funny, I was looking for an AD GMC truck when I stumbled upon this Chevy. Love those AD trucks, but when I found this truck, I had to have it!

I'll post some more pictures after I knock some of the body into better shape and get a coat of primer on it. Eventually it will get paint, but it's going to be my workin' truck, so it'll never be a flawless show pony, but as long as it's dead reliable, it's the perfect Chevy truck!
