Cause that's pretty sweet, if a little overkill. I think that you should drop that into ol' RedRyder. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 Bolter | | Bolter Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 | you get a six with the right stuff and it will pull away from a stock 350........... There is, what appears to be, an oil filter towards the crank pulley and the distributor is way forward of its original location. What gives? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2004 Posts: 703 | Fred,
I think that would look pretty good in Red-Ryder. You oughta have one made up.
Rattletrap, I don't think there's anything wrong with that pic. Unless you thought you were looking at a 235. I believe that's a little later block, perhaps a 250, or 292? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 324 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 324 | Joker it wouldn't fit with those 3 carbs on it. You would have to beat out the fire wall to get it in. Tom | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 76 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 76 | The engine is a 292 late model 6. The position of the oil filter and the "tall" side covers is what gives it away. I have one in my '56 2 door sedan and it surprises a lot of people. It is especially good in the 1/8 mile but doesn't do that bad in the 1/4. It's a full size, complete 3400lb car and will run high 13's at just under 100mph. Not bad for a street driven car, that heavy with that small motor. Mine just has a little head work, a cam, headers and a four barrel. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 Bolter | | Bolter Joined: Oct 2002 Posts: 4,066 | Tom, I will wait till you get ready for a v-8 and I will buy your nice six.......... I know, I probably wont live that long.......... Tom\'s eng other side This is Tom's engine mods......... a 235 with an 848 head for better compression, Fenton hedders with dual exhaust, twin Holley/Webber 2 brl. carbs. The carbs have a small primary for econemy and the secondarys are set up on a progressive linkage. I then installed a 3 speed overdrive transmission from the mid 60's with a 3.90 rear end which gives me a 2.73 final drive in OD. he receientlly drove to Denver from Arlington Texas and averaged 18 mph overall. You can get those carbs for 65 bucks each from Tom Langdon out right. A lot cheaper than a 4 brl carb and better fuel mileage. Or did you just mill a piece of metal and have it pollished up nice? DETAILS!!! | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 324 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 324 | bigbadswingdaddy, I got the plug cover from Tom Langdon Sotvebolt parts. If memory serves me it was about 35 bucks. Not sure if it will fit a jimmy though. Call Tom and he can give you more info. Tom | | |
