i just started a new job and i drove the 54 to the christmas party and one of the young guys saw it and showed some interest, so i am gathering up some classic trucks and street rodder mags. to take to work tomorrow. we of the older generation have to encourage the young people or the joy we receive from our old trucks will be lost. hope this doesn't sound to preachy. only hope doesn't chose a f**d. i told about this page. ron

A retired guy down the street has a 53 Ford pickup. He fixed it up so it's a good 20 foot driver. He had an easier time of it because he dropped in a V8 where the flathead was and already had the open driveline etc. I like seeing that truck tooling around.
Old Chevy trucks are the best but any old trucks are still cool.

Any old trucks are cool. If I had infinate time and resources, there was a '55 IH Travelall on eBay that I would have bought in a heartbeat. The GMCs, the ALF, and the AA keep me busy enough.

I like the curves of the Studebakers. Back then trucks were trucks, all of them were rough and tough and built to work. I like most all old truck, just collect Chevys because that's what my stock pile of parts supports. Also, most aftermarket companies sell parts and modification/adapter parts at a very affordable price which gets me more truck for the buck.

About a year ago when I first started driving my truck to work, there was a guy working for me who took interest. He was about 22 and kept telling me that he'd like to get an old truck to work on. I told him I'd keep my eye out.
One day while working on my truck in front of the house, an electrician working on a house across the street yelled over, "Hey, you wanna buy another one?". Told me $500 for a '65 GMC that was almost complete, motor and tranny in bed.
Told the kid about it and he picked it up. It was actually in pretty good shape for $500. The body's better than mine!
The best part is he's all excited about it and excited to learn and work on it.

Im 25 and am looking for a 47-48 Chevy 5 window. Of course Ive had to be put on hold as my financial pockets seem to have some holes in them..

But I agree, if Restoring Old Vehicles is going to last their needs to be new "blood" to keep it going so that there is more of demand which would make more vendors for the parts.

Agree with the above, and that is one of the main reasons I wanted a mid-50's truck--availability of parts. Glad I did end up with the '56 as it was no problem finding what I needed, and a fairly reasonable price (lot of vendors to choose from and compare prices). Besides, I just LIKE the Tri-5's!
