I have a bad back so find it very difficult to try to reach from under dash. Can it be reached by taking out the speed odometer gauge or gauge cluster? If so, how in the world do you get them out!?!? I'm new to all this so bear with me.

I am restoring my cab now and it is a pain to get up under that dash. I got some old pillows and blankets to make it a little less painful. You have to get under there to get the guages out so you really haven't saved yourself anything. I reached up and undid the old motor from that position. I also removed the speaker grille plate which made it easier to eyeball things before I got onto the floor. Of course if you have a floor shifter then it is more difficult. I did bang my head a few times on the pedals and I think my neighbors kids learned a few new words. Some people actually remove the whole seat assembly and put a plywood board across what is left. Taking out radio grille helps too, also the radio blank out plate. Floor shifter would make it tougher.

Got it in without taking anything else out, but you have to be kind of a contortionist to do it.
