Used to belong to the Anderson Poindexter funeral home here in town and hasn't been on the road in many years. According to the stickers it had 47,000 miles in 67 and now reads 53,000. Don't know where it's been stored but not even a hint of a mouse motel. The current owner has been playing with it and got it out of time. The carburetor looks to have a stuck float and it needs an undetermined amount of brake work, but we'll be diving into it tomorrow. Should be a relatively easy and fun after-work project for a week or two. Maybe it'll motivate me a little to do more work on my 54. I've put off doing the body work on her but she still runs and moves! | | | | Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,470 Bond Villain | Bond Villain Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,470 | Way to go, Jordan!!! The cylinder head on the COE had been removed many years ago. and was sitting on the running board. The last time I had a conversation with him about the dozer, he said "Make me an offer". I'm almost afraid to name a price- - - -he might accept, and if you think buying stovebolt parts gets pricey- - - - - -that yellow Cat paint must be made of gold dust! Jerry

Yeah, talk about tired iron... And I thought boats were expensive ...
About that COE, on the other hand .... A GM??

It could be a GMC. It might have even found its way to the recyclers by now. Another neighbor has a 51 GMC pickup rolling chassis with a 270 in it- - - -engine, trans, and rear end. He scavenged the sheet metal off the frame to build a rat rod on a S-10 chassis, and sort of got sidetracked and never finished the project. He's also got a 1946 Navion airplane in several pieces that will probably never fly again. Jerry

Caterpillar has or will raise the price of parts 15% this year, and availability is another thing. I've got a D11t engine at work I started on March 14th and just now received the last few parts.
Update on the truck- The only wires hooked up were the battery cables so that might've caused a little issue. Now has spark and cranks evenly. I suspect it is a 261 or larger engine, definitely not the 216 it would've had. Only got to work on it a little today. We're both working on it for an elderly gentleman and my neighbor is the guy running the show, so I'm at his mercy. Wednesday will be the next day to look at it. I'll see what I can do picture wise. Thought it was neat that there are two heaters under the dash, one on the passenger side as normal and another that appears to be an electric heater by the steering column. Can't say that there's nothing wrong with the radio, it didn't make a peep. | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | Jordan, like many of us I am glad to see you here. We've missed you buddy. You feel like one of our long lost bolters!! Keep trucking and don't be a stranger. Like John said, this made my day. It is my laptop. I am also on the HHR club website. I bought one last August, 143,000 miles, burgundy.
