I know most people use a pickup frame for this swap, but I already have the truck and recently dropped in a 350 and new 350 trans. When I built this Blazer, I swapped the 4wd frame for a 2wd and used a 2wd 700r4 driveshaft to mate to the th350. If I stretch the frame the required 12" or so, should I use a one piece drive shaft? Most S10 LWB p/u's have the 2piece shafts with the bearing in the middle. Does anyone know what if a one piece would be too long? Your pics of large marge actually the inspiration for cutting up my S10. Before I found your pics I was wandering my yard with tape measure trying to figure which truck I wanted to sacrifice. The S10 track width in the front is perfect to tuck my L78 WWW on 8"rallys, but just needs a stretch & wider rear end. Great documentation and info in your album! Thanks for your help........ I rough measured the S10 with 7" '94 S10 optional rims with 235/75 15 tires and it gave me about 4-5 inches tire to fender. I'm putting chevy 8" rallys with 3 inch backspacing with L78 (roughly 235/75)wide white walls that you can see on my wagon in my webshots. Maybe with such a tall tire I might need the extra clearance for a full lock turn because I want the nose in the weeds. Right now I'm just benchracing until I actually pop the Blazer body off and Mock up the AD. This is for high RPM shafts (gas). The thing started vibrating coming down a long grade, front joint came appart and pole vaulted the truck off the highway. He was lucky to survive and the truck was totalled. Anyway, the 4x4 S10 rear ends are a bolt in and the old Camaro and standard 10 bolts are all over the place cheap. I picked up a disc brake Camaro rear end last fall for $50. If you are leaving it leaf springs in the rear, Mopar parts has spring pads that weld onto your axle tubes for $8 a pair. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 86 Member | | Member Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 86 | Thanks Dan, I did finally find a U Pullit yard in taylor. Taylor Auto Salvage 1-734-281-1342 they're at Telegraph and Pardee. There is also another yard right next to them, but it started to rain so I couldn't check that one out. They want $100 for a complete rearend drum or disk.
Oh yeah, craigslist always gets me in trouble, I currently have a couple motors and a transmission for sale on there right now. I usually end up buying something off there instead of getting rid of my stuff.
