i.e. proper intakes, exhaust pipes, hei, carburetion tips, and oil circulation. The first chapter helped me on the basic dimensions and identification of engines when I got re-interested in old bolts. Stuff I forgot. I kinda wish it was more down to earth for daily drivers.

It appears obvious to me that he did this to give himself more room for the turbocharger on one side and his induction system on the other side. If he had used an aftermarket or even a stock inline 6 head, which is possible, he would have had everything crowded on one side of the engine.
I knew a turbocharger could wake up an inline 6. He undoubtedly has far more invested in the 292 than he would have with a V8, but the uniqueness of the powerplant is far greater than a V8.
I agree, the Stude isn't the best looking car to put it in, but it is a lot more aerodynamic than a truck. If he's shooting for 10's, then it makes sense to consider aerodynamics because he's getting into the spooky area of racing. Get a stovebolt truck into the 10's and that driver has big huge brass balls.
But I thoroughly believe one could build a very powerful inline 6 street engine with a turbocharger. I'm going to try putting a T03 on my 235 just to see how it feels in a low-boost application. And if it feels incredible, I could see rebuilding the engine for that specific purpose. Leo would be a good person to consult with, anyhow.
