How would one go about building an extended cab from an advanced design truck? I have 2 47'-54' cabs, and 4 doors. I saw a little bit about this guy who built an extended cab 1959 using a section of a suburban. Is this doable or will it end up being a nightmare. I've been looking around for this kind of stuff and was hoping to see something like "How to build an extended cab for your classic truck" but nope. nothin. Well if anyone has any experience or input I would love to hear it. Thanks.

Some guy did this, I saw the results at the Kansas City show quite a few years ago, before the stovebolt crew started going. He put them together backwards, rear to rear. So it had suicide doors. Looked ok, but I bet it was a lot of work.
Interestingly, GM actually did make some "quad cabs" back in the early 50s/late 40s. I saw one of those cabs for sale on ebay a long time ago. He did not know what it was used for. But then recently I found one at the air and space museum outside of Tucson. It was used as an airplane tug, so of course it had huge wheels and engine.

That has got to be one of the coolest looking trucks I've ever seen.

One of our members on this board had his cab extended. He has photos that show the process and they did use parts of another cab. It is not a crew cab but an elongated cab, doors and all.

Don't give anymore ideas, it has been too long since i have had my truck to drive. the stretch is awesome. ron

There was a guy on the forums a while back that was stretching his truck down the center of the doors and making the doors longer. It gave the truck a chopped look. I really liked that idea. Does anyone remember that post? I think he was from Minnesota.
