It is a 1964 cabover International like I drove in the late 60's and early 70's. I bought it in the hills of Northwest Arkansas over 6 months ago and never could get a reasonable ride for it. Mine didn't have the windows in back and the sides, but I have one with a regular sleeper. This one is much more complete and will make a good donor. But I did haul her home with my 3500HD GMC with a 6 liter gas. https://plus.google.com/11263693037...5156051106&oid=112636930370126476644The GMC really handled the hills well and had no problem with holding 70 once I got to Texas. I stayed on the back roads in Arkansas to avoid the scales. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,993 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 2,993 | Cool!! What are your plans for it? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,963 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,963 | I bought another Emeryville last year that runs and drives, but has a lot of little stuff missing. And the other one has 22" spoke. I bought this one for the little parts and for the 20" hubs. They made Emeryvilles in 3 cabs. The day cab or "skinny cab" the small sleeper with windows like this one and one with a little larger sleeper and no windows. They one I drove had no windows. If it weren't for the fact that this one has the windows, I would restore it. But I want one like I drove a couple of million miles. And restoring one like this is similar to restoring a GMC 860. You almost have to buy the whole truck to get the little parts. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 1,399 Camp Commandant | | Camp Commandant Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 1,399 | Nothing like having a parts truck. I was lucky with my project as it actually came with parts from two other trucks. Every time I get stuck I just go up to the parts loft and look through the boxes and bins and in some cases have found two or three of what I am looking for. I always did like those Emeryvilles. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,144 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,144 | | | | | | Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 608 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2003 Posts: 608 | Ken I,m envious, She looks like a GREAT Candidate to save and not use for parts. Have a few miles on 2 myself. GREAT FIND. Good luck with whatever You do. regards, steve sr.

Good luck on your "Build". 318??

International made a day cab, a small sleeper with windows which this one, is and a larger sleeper. The one I drove was the larger sleeper like the one I bought in Georgia last winter. Someone started restoring the larger sleeper and a lot of small parts disappeared. This one has all the small parts I need. This one has a 220 Cummins and the other has a later 250 Cummins, but both have the "back drop manifold" which gave the Emeryville its distinctive sound. I am looking for Budd hubs for the steering axle, because that is what I had back then. And I had over a dozen cabover Internationals running in the 80's and 90's.
I'm going to leave the spring ride seat and hard rubber pad springless rear suspension like it is. I want to remind my self how it was over 50 years ago. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 22 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 22 | Neat truck, Ken. This was the truck I first drove for my farmer Dad. I was 16 years old. It was a 1961 Emeryville, 220 Cummins with a 10 sp. Road ranger. What a slow truck. Probably ideal for a green kid. Emeryvilles because they were built in Emeryville, California, Yes, or no, folks?
