I was sitting here thinking about that second solenoid and the following popped into my brain:

"I'd like to pick up some Muffler Bearings, Johnson Rods... And a tub of Elbow Grease."

I've personally never worked on a V8 starter, but it makes sense to me that there would be a four gauge wire coming off of the battery to the main power stud, and then a wire from that to a relay to the solenoid stud.

The relay -- of course -- would be triggered by the "start" position on the keyswitch.

I'm just kind of surprised that nobody at GM thought that it made sense, too... eek
