Thanks for all the good ideas. I don't think the coil has internal resistance because it's labeled as requiring an external resistor, but I'll probably get a new 6V coil anyway to eliminate the coil from the suspects. I'll pull the cassette deck out and anything else that's added on to see if that helps. I don't have a meter, but the growing crowd hovering around the hood (of the truck) does. We'll try all the suggestions. I'm tired of recharging batteries. Plus it's almost getting warm here. I want to drive it. Soon I'll be pulling off body panels to fix and it won't be as easy.
