To make sure your generator has the correct polarity after connecting it to the regulator.Skin the ends of a short piece of wire,16 or 18 gauge.Touch one end of the wire on the gen terminal of the regulator and momentarily touch the other end to the batt terminal on the regulator.Do this with the engine shut off.You have now polarized the generator.
