I would start at the basics and check the point gap, check no dirt between point contacts, pull plugs and check condition, check that it isn't flooding. The six volt system should not have a resistor. on 12 volt coils resistors cut the voltage down to about 7 or 8 volts,(i forget) to avoid burning points. if the ignition was left on with the engine not turning, you could have problems with the points. weak spark is a place to start. in cold weather i have used starting spray, but be carefull, and don't over use it, bad for engine.
