"turn the same direction"?? they turn back and forth - opposite each other at the same moment
if they turn the same direction you've got something wrong! did you hook both arms to only one side of the reciprocating plate on the motor? that's all I can think would make the arms work in tandem, the same direction at the same time
got the links switched left for right? when the motor is in 'park' the driver side link goes to the lower peg on the motor, and the 2 links are different part numbers, so have some difference [which I don't remember offhand, and don't have a pair handy]
