Joe has a point about using teflon liners between the spring leaves. A friend of mine put liners between the springs on his truck and if I put my foot on his bumper and push down real quick, the truck squats two or three inches and returns real smooth, more like a modern car. If I push down on my truck it's like the thing is sitting on concrete blocks. Both our trucks are the same with original springs.
I don't think he ever figured out why I kept bouncing his truck. Just kept giving me a funny look
