As Bill says, "what gives" is every one of the guys that have put untold hours into “The
Old Car Manual Project” to build the best archive of vintage and hard to find automobile
literature there is. Keith Hardy along with many other contributors have put enough time
in on this project that you could call it a full time job for some of them. And it's all free to
us, unless your conscience bothers you and you feel it’s only the right thing to do to
help keep it going by making a small contribution once in a while.
Same deal as the Stovebolt. No dues, all volunteer, but at the end of the day, someone has
to pay the bills and it sure shouldn't be the people that put the time in starting, hosting or
maintain these sites. You can bet your bird they aren't doing it because of the money, it's
because they have a love of the hobby and a desire to share the information with all who
care to join in and help the hobby stay healthy and grow.
You should have been a hot rodder or restorer back in the 50's and 60's when there was
no where to find this sort of information. All you had back then was a Motor’s Auto
Repair Manual, a copy of Honk or Hot Rod and if you were lucky, a hand full of friends
to discuss your project.
Which reminds me, it’s spring, a fresh new start for the year, taxes are paid so it’s time to
toss a few bucks Peg, John and Keith’s direction, thanks guys for giving all you give us.
