I did have the resistor connected when I used the Pertronix. According to their instructions for use, it says to use the resistor (I think I remember that)...is that not the case?
On the other note, I tracked the issue down to the bolt that goes through distributur that connects the (-) coil wire to points and condenser. I bet when I took it out (it's not needed when you use Pertronix (the Pertronix wires go through that vacated hole on side of distributor), a washer got loose, one that must have been rubber or nylon. Because when I put that bolt on (and tighten it to the distributor with metal lock washer and nut, I THEN get no voltage to it. That's when it apparently gets grounded and no spark gets to the points.
My question: When you're tightening the bolt down on the inside of distributor, is there a nylon or rubber washer that prevents the bolt from touching the distributor housing? Hope that question makes sense.
And, Steve, are you sure the Pertronix doesn't need resistor?
