the alternator bracket will look something like this

It might possibly hold a generator but Im not 100% positive. Fla54Chevy3100's version might work better as it uses the coolant neck mounting holes on the head.

The only thing im not sure of is if the generator will fit in the space, if its to long it might hit the distributor. I have a generator here, when it warms up I will go see if its possible.
Looking at it I see no problem with not enough belt touching the pulley. Doesn't take much to add a idler pulley to bring the belt around the pulley more if needed.
