Basically two 3/8" threaded rods, 1 right handed thread and 1 left handed thread and a coupling with right and left handed threads. Much like a tie rod, turn the coupling to adjust the tension on the belt. Unfortunately all the hardware stores around here don't carry left handed thread bolts and nuts so I had to place a order with Mcmaster Carr. The opposite side brackets will look the same, with a 3/8" nut welded onto the bracket.
I like the idea of a tie rod type belt adjuster but price wise its not the best. The coupling is about $12ea and the threaded rod a few bucks, then theres a bit of welding and getting everything aligned correctly. So Im working on a different way of adjusting the belt. Something that won't cost so much to make, and take alot of time but still works well. Basically just the same type of belt adjuster included in many alternator kits and whats used stock as well.
