To be really honest about it, there is no such thing as a surviving "original" vehicle from the '50's with us today. Restored to original is as close as we can come. A vehicle that has had a fender straightened using bondo (how terrible) and painted with the manufacturer's specified paint number using everything as close to those items available when it was manufactured is still "modified". Every vehicle of that age has had a tune up or flat tire fixed and filled with "new air", so in the strict definition is not original. What's all this B.S. about anyway, we all have our vehicles (whether truck, car, bicycle or whatever) done to our own taste. If you want to keep your vehicle in as near as possible to the original look, that's fine, if you want to change anything about it that's fine too. The bottom line is enjoy your Stovebolt any way you want, it's yours!
