Well Waveski, hopefully we don't have you completely scared and confused. I was thinking (not common for me) that if your buddy Rick has the tools, he could figure out what the camshaft specs are without pulling it from the engine. He would need a degree wheel and dial indicator, those items can be affixed to the engine and by turning the crankshaft by hand, the lobe lift, lobe separation, valve overlap and duration can be gleaned from reading the lift of the pushrod and amount of rotation in degrees. Those numbers would tell you if that camshaft is too aggressive for your needs. If the cam is mild enough, the Edelbrock manifold and a Q-Jet can make the engine happy, if the cam is deemed too hot, you can decide on the next step.
