On the 235 and 261 stroker engines, I've devised a method of reducing the diameter of the stock stovebolt connecting rods to use a smaller bearing intended for a 2.4 Liter Nissan engine, allowing the stroke to be increased to 4 5/16"- - - -a 3/8" increase over the standard stroke. The 235 engine can use a 3 5/8" diameter piston for a Ford 223 6 cylinder, and the 261 can use a Chevy 283 V8 piston after some block height decking. The Nissan rod bearings have been used successfully in 600+ HP turbocharged engines, so a stovebolt at 4K or so shouldn't be much of a challenge!
