I've been following this conversation for the last 2 days, and it has helped me a lot.
Introduction: I have a 1940 1/2 ton truck which I acquired of an old gent who restored it in 1983. I have just fitted new Coker tyres and was giving it a run on Sunday when it developed a terrible vibration when moving off & accelerating. I have dropped the rear cross member, slid the ball back and saw that the retaining screws of the UJ had broken off on one side. All is now removed, and I have the following questions. I assume that there is a seal in the torque tube where the yoke slides in. Am I right? I also now need to acquire a new uni joint with retaining caps & bolts. Are these available? I am in Australia.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
