Ok, so it sounds like:
1. move the jack stands from the rear axle to the frame
2. clean the torque tube a lot more, grease it when clean and lubricate the screw cap end to loosen up the leather inside
3. try some pressure from a floor jack and block of wood on the collar to try to loosen it
4. maybe some love taps from a dead blow hammer
5. support the torque tube with the floor jack when splitting the u joint
I won't have time to get into the garage until Friday, weather permitting. So there is still time to add to my list. I really want to get this done so that I can move on to transmission removal and ultimately engine removal. Thanks for the help so far! Wish me luck....
