Getting the axle(s) and springs aligned properly after moving them forward can be a royal pain in the posterior and a truck with the rear end trying to pass the front end all the time is a chore to drive. I'd much rather cut a chunk out of the middle than try to accurately reposition a bunch of spring hangers!
