So, after my move, my gauge stopped working and I finally had the time today to revisit the old issue again.
1. removed cluster from the dash and sender from tank, gauge moved when I moved sender through range of motion.
2. Put complete cluster back in dash and if didn’t work...... no work!
3. Confused, I removed cluster (again), said a few choice words and tried it again.... success!
4. Confused as can be, I put it back in place and it worked.
5. I kept testing as I tightened it up and BAM..... doesn’t work again
6. Again I rechecked wires, etc for the umpteenth time.....
7. Finally, the light came on! You guys told me that sometimes the new gauges needle hits cluster face plate. After numerous times adding spacers, it finally worked.
After 3 hours, I am finally calling it a success and raising a beer! The gauge sat 1/16th “ higher than other gauges. This caused needle base (at pivoting point) to rub and hold needle in place.
