17.04.26 ordered new ignition switch, ballast resistor, hood and door bumpers. Bill's Truck Shop $105.99
17.05 file updates missing... installed ballast resistor, bumpers. Friend helped do some diagnosis, found can get it to run great keeping choke on 5°+ . Had carb guy out, explained what we'd found, he took carb back to rejet. I removed choke plate in governor to ensure no parts ingest, and its non-functional. Carb guy came out with carb, found its was jetted at .053", supposed to be .072", he had a .070". Reinstalled carb, truck now running great.
17.05.20ish reconnected wiper vacuum, works OK. Reconnected vacuum for brakes and rear. Brakes are terrific. Rear leaking, found holes in steel line behind drain, removed drains for access, tape repaired, now working great. Truck drives awesome even at higher speeds.
17.05.27 fixed battery opening in floor, almost complete. Cleaned cab, found mouse dirt under seat, washed. Took pictures to plan for seat belts. Found booster line capstans and roller can be stripped and shine, also latches and bulk fill trap door.
17.05.03 Brought truck house. Son and friend stripped paint off rear cross bar - its brass! Started stripping roller and capstans. Walt Vogt dropped of 50' of 1" hose.
17.05.04 Son n I went L & M exhaust got new exhaust parts, $114. Came home and we installed, with son custom welding tailpipe. Took truck in as 'static display' for CANADA 150 parade.
17.06 Dpdt switch, mirrors. $53.08. Stripped booster line roller. Got ends on 50' booster line, Walt dropped off 45' more & put ends on that $20. Polishing fire body passenger side. Mounted heater fan resistors to firewall, installed on off on switch sand wired for high n low fan speed. Son made bracket for tachometer, installed.
17.06.30 added second booster line. Prepped truck for CANADA Day celebrations.
17.07.01 CANADA 150 celebrations! Went to barn to take truck for Burford's "Touch a Truck" and it wouldn't turn over. Son used chunk of battery cable to bypass fender mounted starter solenoid, adjusted negative battery cable and got it running. Great interest and fun at Burford, even had a possible TV show offer. Stopped at home then to St. George for parade. Rain as we got to St. George, very heavy, delayed parade 1/2 hour. Daughter rode inside with me, wife and sons rode on top for parade.
17.07.02 picked up and installed new solenoid, wouldn't work. Tested wiring direct to starter mounted solenoid. Worked great. Cleaned up wiring. Worked on some polishing. Wife got lettering completed on drivers door. Old Smokey Fire Dept Looks so awesome.
17.07.03 Old Smokey Fire Dept now on passenger door as well. Took truck for 40 min drive with fuel stop. New starter wiring works great, truck starts better than ever.
17.07.09 put refinished and new benches on hose bed. Wife and son helped get rear section of headliner in.
17.07.10 met with past coworker , he wworked for King Seagrave mid 1980s in engineering. Bought a cast Bickle Seagrave nameplate, along with others $150. Also received numerous truck photos, sadly none of ours or Cayuga's. Also received King Seagrave ad literature and a copy of the Bickle Seagrave story.
17.07.15 picked up truck last night and cleaned up for today. Son n I took truck to Cayuga for parade, wife and other son followed in pickup. Met friends and Dad. Wife rode in truck with me for parade, rest on benches up top. Back to Brantford after, Son n I into city for $100 job, picked up grooms party on Downing stretch near hospital, took them to Farringdon Church. Stayed for pictures after, then took groomsmen to Sanderson. And back to barn.
