Achipmunk, I debated before starting wether to include costs, but felt many would appreciate the info, even if it is Canadian dollars, eh! I also respect those that would rather not share that info. And now the next installment...
16.06.22-23 replaced both headlight wiring harnesses, some bared spots were found. My son and a friend checked compression: 4=30 psi, 5=50 psi, others OK (120 to 130 psi). I checked, cap, rotor, points and condenser need replacing. Should also add ignition resistor.
16.06.24 picked up new cap, rotor, points, condenser, valve cover gasket from Carquest ($63.13) Talked with classic vehicle mechanic, picked up Lucas Oil oil additive ($22). Told him compression numbers, he thinks probably rings still, but keep trying what we're doing, try additive.
16.06.25 replaced cap, rotor, condenser, points, estimated points gap. Truck running much better, smoother with more power. Took friend for ride, person out for walk stopped me to tell me it has loud gear (rear end he thinks?) Noise. Took to fire hall, filled with some water, tanks holds no problem. Drove it back to farm. Headlights still have issue.
16.06.26 replaced wiring to right rear signal, both rear floodlights. Removed all dash emergency light switches, one broke. Disconnected all side marker lights from low beam circuit, but no chance to test.
16.06.29 bought light bulbs for taillights, fuse blocks princess auto. Brought truck home, replaced left rear signal wiring.
16.06.30 re & re main wiring harness. Completed install of main harness except all signal lights, taillights, and stop lamps.
16.06.31 - 07.03 completed rewiring, except rooftop siren, dome light, horn ( wires good). Skipped side marker lights for now. Found heater fan not working again. Polished and waxed passenger side of cab.
16.07.04 picked up fuses, connectors, wire loom, marker lights for driver's side. $70.33 @ princess auto. Installed loom on taillight wires, markers installed but not yet wired.
16.07.06 rewired rear and mid side marker lights - tapped into taillights wiring.
16.07.07 rewired front side markers - brought leads right to taillights stud on fuse box. Polished and waxed drivers front fender.
16.07.08 bought switches for emergency equipment, LED markers for passengers side. $66.03 bought wood for hosebed. $122
16.07.09-10 reworked signals into new harness. Polished and waxed drivers side, cab done except roof. Replaced hosebed, all new 5/4 Brown pressure treated wood ripped to 2 3/4 wide. Loaded all hose to driver's side under hard suction.
16.07.17 picked up new inline fuel filter $5.41, reset points to spec (.018). Attempted to replaced auxiliary cooler to thermostat rad hose, couldn't bend new without kinking, cleaned inside ends of existing and reinstalled. Hard to start until fuel filter filled, then ran rough, backfired etc. Returned truck to barn.
16.07.21 friend reset points visually, to 'where they spark'. Claims Running much better. Wife working on old jeans denim seat cover.
16.07.22 took for drive. Reset points larger gap probably about .035" much better. Washed and installed new ball for valve pull (painted rubber ball) truck ready for powerfest
16.07.23 Brantford Powerfest show. Well reviewed, not great exposure.
16.07.24 took for drive, fuelled and returned to barn.
16.08.... running really rough, found debris in fuel system.
16.08.08 Friend and son cleaned out fuel system, took for fuel run... oil pressure dropped out to ZERO. Motor runs but noisy.
16.08.14 son n I removed oil pan found chunk of pushrod, shavings and number 1 and 2 bearings coming out past con rods as ribbons.
16.08.... removed front grille and radiator and found sticker on rad 'serviced by Armstrong Body Shop New Liskard.'
16.08.25 removing equipment on / around motor prep for removal.
16.08.27 removing last of 'accessories', started prepping motor for removal.
16.08.28 got motor rest of the way out and brought to house on hoist. Brought all other loose parts home as well.
16.08.29 stripped motor of all 'accessories'
