Wouldn't plumbing a motor boat can (with siphon pump) into the carb inlet be preferable to the squirt gun? Or is there some reason we are trying to completely bypass the carb.
Sounds to me like risky business. Not just the personal safety aspect, but also the fact that we are dealing with a brand new motor with a cam that hasn't been run in.
