How does it act when it runs? Smoothly and then dies or is it a sputtering mess the whole time?
Mine ran like crap set on the timing ball and the I finally advanced it a little bit one day and made a huge difference.
Did you push the choke in right away? Might need to run at part choke for a little bit.
Got the firing order correct? 153624
Would not assume the rebuilt carb was done correctly. Would be easy to check float setting and drop. Small changes make a big difference. Aside from that, do you have any buddies who would loan you a carb off a known running engine?
