Hotrod, that squirrel recipe might be on the exotic side for me. I am no survivalist. If it were not for there being a Walmart like an hour away, I would be losing weight quickly up there.
Capnduane, yes, and what with the beavers constantly building dams on the stream, there are plenty of spots to just stand and wait for the fish to go by. One could probably just scoop it out of the water with a net. I do the trout on a hardwood fire. An 8" fish takes very little wood that, once down to coals, does the fish perfect. I hear that once in a while a salmon can be pulled from this stream. That would be nice. I could live on salmon. Northeastern Maine has received good snowmelt and rainfall in recent years so the rivers and streams are really running.
