Here's an idea. Everyone just list what's still working and how much its used. I'll start

1) set of 1/2 ton jack stands-used occasionally
2) straight die grinder-used often
3) face shield-used occasionally
4) $29.00 set of body hammers/dollies-used once

That's about all I can think of for now. I get gloves and wire brushes there, but those are sort of consumables.

1) 2 sets of jack stands/used all the time
2) quick pump jack/used all the time
3) auto darken welding helmet/used all the time
4) 2 4 1/2" grinders/used all the time burnt
one out but got my $ worth.
5) chop saw/ used occasionally
6) air regulator & lubricator/piece of crap, do not
buy any type of air regulator, all junk
7) various air tools/used often


That's all I can thunk of for now.

3 packs of sanding blocks.Thats the only thing I would risk buying at HF.Most of their stuff looks like junk to me.

1. 4 1/2" Grinder. Ten years, still going.
2. Folding shop crane, works fine. Three years
3. Various engine stands. Rickety junk.
4. 20 Ton press. Six years. Works fine.
5. 18 Volt Drill/Sander/Jig saw/Light. Drill is crapola. Chuck is virtually useless. ~1 year Shoulda just bought a new battery for the Makita.
6. 1/2" Air Impact Seven Years. Oil the snot out of it.
7. 3/8 Butterfly, two years. OK. Keep it oiled.
8. Air die grinder set. Four years. Works slick. Oil the snot out of it.
9. Air Filter/Tool oiler. Absolute garbage. Don't bend over to pick one off the ground. It'll be a waste of your time. Junk.
10. Pneumatic Tire hand truck. Three years. Tin foil wheel construction. Buy a real one. Still works, but don't plan to use it anywhere near the stated capacity.
11. Any of the Halogen Work Lights. Junk. All thrown away now.
12. Rechargeable Halogen spot light. Two years. I use it frequently.
13. Hand Tools, wrenches, sockets and stuff. Great for when you think your tools might get stolen. Keep your good set locked up at home. I find that when I have to grind, weld or bend a wrench for something special, my feelings don't get hurt doing it to a cheapo!

My 50lb.anvil from H.F. still works fine!

The Box my Grinder came in still goin strong holdin various nuts an bolts , the grinder died after abought 20 hrs use .

#/8 pneumatic drill, 10+ years @ the shop - 4yr.s at home
2 grinders 1 angle 1 not 5 and 10 years of frequent use
3 automatic center punches- 1 works -the others for parts-1.99 ea.
wood lathe-gift from my brother-it's crap but if I can make stuff on it i'll be good when I get a real one-the thought and gesture from my bro-priceless, as was the look on the kid across the street when I gave him the bat I made for him.

Heavy duty jack stands - 5 or 6 ton I think, 5 years used all the time.
Engine stand, used occassionally - so far no problems, had about 3 years.
Vise, 10 years busted it - but stil useing it.
Needle gun - used maybe 10 times, some heavy use, no problems.
Various pullers, 1 year no problems - used in rebuilding my trans.
For some things, I think their pretty good. As has been said some of it is of no quality at all.

All that I've bought from them so far (they've only come to town recently)is a chainsaw chain sharpener. I've sharpened every chain I've got and haven't used it since. I hope it lasts several seasons, saves a lot of time,

crowbar- only used in a sand pile one time. still works like the day i got it.

Countless other tools I wouldn't have bought if I had to pay a normal price, even if they are better quality.

My dad had a hammer drill from HF that he beat the hell out of for about 5 years. It finally died. He took it back last weekend and they gave him a new one. Pretty reasonable I think.

I have a 40#sandblaster that works great. I also bought an engine stand that is alright.

My short list of HF tools that still are hanging in there.Four,five ton jack stands,a 12 ton porta-power,an arbor press,several portable work stands (tables) ,a 14" chop saw,a 7" grinder,a 14" X 40" four speed wood lathe that I picked up at a yard sale for $20.00.I use the wooden bowl making attachment as a sanding drum for wood or metal.Works well! Most of their hand tools are real junk and gave up long ago.
