I looked through 20 pages of posts and didn't see anything about this. Does anyone know where to get the correct door hinge pins for an AD truck. I ordered them from LMC and they sent 1 size fits 47-89 that are entirely to big. The hinge holes measure approx 0.310" and the pins I got are 0.345" diameter.

I'd be buying me a new drill bit and maybe truing up the hinge guides which are probably worn out too... but You could no doubt keep searching for or have a 0.310" made if that seems like a bother wink

Pins are sold oversize because most hinges are wallowed out and they would not fix the wear issues. I found my driver side as expected severely worn while my passenger side was in pretty good shape. There is plenty of meat on the hinge to drill the holes to match your pins.

I think most hinge pin holes began at about 11/32 and as Brad says the new replacement pins are a few thousandths bigger. Check out the tech tip about rebuilding hinges. I think there is a tip on just the pin and a tech tip on rebuilding them using the brass bushings.
Good luck. Let us know how you make out.

Marcus,i've just been through this using the LMC pins on my '50,like the guys say most hinges have considerable wear after 60+ years.

Rebuilding them with the oversize pins and brass bushes worked well for me and the drivers door now latches with a satisfying clunk.
Just a point though, replace the springs while your at it too, they're cheap to buy and make a big difference.

Like yours the passenger side was much better so I opted to leave it alone for the meantime.
I'm a firm believer in "if it aint broke, don't fix it!"

I bought what I hope is the right size drill bit today. I was kind of assuming what I've heard called the hinge 'bar' is hard as flint.
I found a youtube video of a guy who was drilling em out to rebuild them and he didn't use the brass bushings. Is it better to use them?

I suppose it depends just how worn the hinges are Marcus, but the idea of the brass bushes is that they then become the 'wear' surfaces rather than the pins themselves.
Initially I wasn't going to use them but in the end i'm glad I did.

Bear in mind it's taken your hinges 60+ years to get the state they're in so I imagine it'll be a long time before they would need rebuilt again.

If 30 = youngin then I'm guilty as charged. When you get to be 30 you start to like it when they ID you at the, um, uh, that place where they require you be 21.

I got the passenger hinges drilled, bushings installed, and re-assembled. As I said earlier I was expecting that hinge bar to be hard steel. In fact, it's about like drilling through butter.
