Just thought it would be a good idea to see what other bolters are doing to their engines. I need to do some touch up on mine, but here's a picture and short video...

Here's my 1961 261 9 years ago. It doesn't look nearly that clean now.

well, it's not a 'stovebolt', and not even going into a Stovebolt, but it is GM, and it is mine, and it's a video of the first fire up, which is always fun grin

Wally,

Nice looking 261 engine.

What carburetor?
Do you like it?
Is the inlet fuel filter the only fuel filter?

Nice gas/vacuum plumbing.
Where did you connect to the vacuum wiper (on the far/hidden side of the carburetor)?

Here's my '54. I've posted them before.

> Prepped for painting Wasn't gonna give my fuel filter a chance to leak, so I left it on and bought a lot of blue tape.

> Drivers Side Since the pic was made, I replaced the Echlin VR cover with a Delco Remy; rotated the cowl vent drain hose 45deg toward the drivers side. Recently learned that the oil pressure and temp tube should exit the firewall with the speedo cable.

> Passenger Side I've replace the gear-type hose clamps with earlier type. Couldn't get the wire pinch clamps shown in the FAM to secure the hoses.

EDIT:
"sstock" - Sometimes Photobucket videos don't load on an iPhone. You may be able to find it in my "Carburetor" album, then choose view full web site. I dunno.

Thanks David for starting this thread, I love looking at other peoples bolts. Here is mine, I just got the truck a couple months ago, got a lot of work to do but did fix some engine mechanicals to get he purring like a kitten. Had 2 really bad intake valve guides but replaced them all because they had been previously knurled. All the springs were shot with seat pressures all over the map. I exhaust valve needed replacing-then a three angle grind. Carb kit, set the point dwell, idle mixture for best vacuum and initial timing and here it is:
Thanks, Steve

Tim,

The carb is a Rochester Monojet. It's not Carb King's favorite but it's worked well enough for me that my Carter YF 2100S has waited for years on the shelf. (No, I won't sell it.)

I have a second in-line fuel filter on the other side of the motor. That's the one I change routinely. I could buy a Fram filter that screwed into the carb in 2004 but I haven't checked lately. Maybe I should!

I now have an electric wiper motor but the manifold vacuum was a "fore pump" for the fuel pump vacuum port. Here's a diagram of how it was set up.

Here's Ol' Darrell's engine. Just got it running like a clock the other night, but I'm fighting sticking intake valves again. Ugh!

Here's the engine in my 1969 3/4T panel.

http://s1109.photobucket.com/user/R.../Driverssideview.jpg.html?sort=6&o=1

It has a 4 row bb radiator and a 350 fan shroud and fan. I added power steering and a 94A alternator. Also added an HEI and 10.6mm wires that were to short for a 350. Next on the agenda for the engine compartment is a new master/booster combo for power brakes and a replumb of the fuel and vacuum lines.

best wishes,

Les

Very cool stuff guys! Keep up the good work! If you ever get a desire to remove the road tube, you can install a PCV system per my instruction on the web site. I have tested it and it works really great.

Suggest (but not totally needed) a fuel pump with the vacuum feature so you are only plumbing a few inches. I have mine ran clear to the intake.

1954 3100 - decided that the medium gray was the best color for me.
