Anyway. We loaded up the 46 this morning with 4 park benches that we made for a local community development corporation that we will be building a playground for here in a couple of months. Probably about 3500 lbs. http://s1006.photobucket.com/user/r...e-4_zpsc3eb72c8.jpeg.html?sort=3&o=0 | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 446 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 446 | Hey that's neat. Great old "Art Deco"!! | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 430 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 430 | Sounds like I need to make some more sets and put them up for sale? | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 430 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 430 | Well, I hauled a scrap load today. I had my guys load it up and I didn't pay attention to how much they put on there. Was driving a little sluggish and when I pulled onto the scales I knew why. I had over 5000 lbs on the bed! Should have grabbed some pictures, but I didn't.
Felt pretty good to be using it and how well it did hauling that much weight! | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 1,159 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 1,159 | Hey,Randy! I have a T.F. '55,so the "West-Coast" mirrors are period-correct for my rig, BUT, if I owned an "Art-Deco",and you had a set of mirrors for sale,I'd just have to have'em!! THEY LOOK COOL!! | | | | Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 211 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2012 Posts: 211 | I totally agree with still working them, Not daily of course. My 1942 dump will be hauling some dirt, stone, brush, ect. You can't own a dump truck and not find some reason not to use it!!! | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 | I've seen many of them haul 180-200 bu of corn and thats around 11K + lbs. + the wgt of the bed so they will definately take it.
Nice to see one of the old girls getting a work out. Greta looking truck....too bad it's your and not mine. | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 719 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 719 | I know I'm not the only one workin my bolt around here, but for a while I was doin a hauling biz with my dump truck. Biggest job to date was hauling 5 yard loads up a steep mile of unpaved driveway, could only go up in 2-low but still made 22 trips that day. She ate it up and was ready for more, couldn't have been happier with the performance out of a rig that's over 50 years old. Besides, for what the insurance and licensing cost me at the time, I'm durned well gonna work this girl and get my moneys worth out of it! 1956 GMC 370 dump " 'Tater "1970 VW Volksrod "the Black Bomber" 2007 Chevy Avalanche 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, 2005 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI I dig all cars, old and new, whether they were hammered out of American iron, German steel, or Japanese tin cans. Being unable to appreciate them all is missing out on a world of great things. But thats just MY opinion! :P
