I re-assembled my grill since the peices came back form the body shop and figured out that the grill came off the big truck my cab came from. These grills are a little different then the 1/2 ton. It went together using the vertical brackets from the 1/2 ton. The horizontal bars from the 2 ton. I placed the assembly in the opening and it appears to fit with just a little modification to the bottom bar. Before I go to far, can anyone think of a reason not to do this other then it is not correct. This grill came out just perfect and I hate not to use it for a 1/4" difference that most people will never notice. Am I not seeing anything that will cause a problem fitting together

I will post a picture when done.

It fits. Grill and another view. If you look close, the bottom four bars are taller then the top bar. The bottom are from a 2 ton truck and the topbar is from a 1/2 ton. It took very little adjusting to fit. Now I can sleep.

Phil | | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,557 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 2,557 | Your grille looks great.When using the big truck grille bars on the small truck grill frame work.Everything will fit fine except the top grille bar.It will look like it's smiling at you,modifying the two two side metal tabs will allow it to be bolted up without the smile.I have not done the modification,but have talked to people that have and the grilles look great.

This top bar I used from the 1/2 ton was in excellent shape. When I set the two next to each other they looked the same. I think this worked out good. The fender has four holes that match to the top bar. I dont think they would have matched to the big grill top bar. I may hold it up there and see just so I know for sure.

The one that came on it, and its pretty beat up. A chrome one that I bought that is not badly dented, but has some kinked and twisted bars and starting to rust, and a grill from a 6400 that is pristine. I wished and wanted that grill from the 2 ton to fit the one, but everything i read/heard/etc. said no. I see now that by swapping some bars around, this may work out.

They are Notched on the backside from 1 to 5 i/e top to bottom.
top has 1 notch and bottom has 5.
