We'll be there to walk the in-field looking for parts, but I don't beleive the '59 will be ready by then. I'm hoping for June - that will be 18 months from the start of the project.
Its cold here today, so I stayed inside most of the day. However, I did go to the shop to install the new shiny pieces that arrived today from Brothers: inside rear view mirror and bracket, turn signal lever, and horn button. Still waiting on delivery of gauge cluster assembly.
Got the left side rear cab corner patch panel welded into place. Let me tell you, the fit of the patch panel was terrible and required a lot of message work. In the end, the door jamb edge ended up not straight with the rest of the door jamb and wll require metal fillers to bring back to straight. I had none of these problems with the right side patch panel source from same supplier. Wore out my wrist using my slapping bar to message the panel curves where they needed to be. Will work on front left lower cab corner next.
Hey Bolters! Over the weekend I pulled the carb off my '54 1 Ton chev. Have it apart and soaking in the sauce!!! I picked up the carb kit, $11.00 bucks!!! (God, some parts are really cheap to get) My truck was sitting for 5-7 years, then my buddy gave it to me. (he has too many projects on the go!) I bought coil,plugs,cap,rotor,points,condenser,fuel pump for less than $150.00! And 6volt too. We pulled the fuel pickup out of the tank and unplugged it. Then,....it ran. Here is the my first run a couple months ago.
I have acquired 1 fender for it, $100 bux. And just yesterday started pulling apart the flat deck.
This truck was an on site welders truck beside the concrete plant I worked at. Long story short, the land was expropriated and the pipe coating company behind us, sold and the welder gave this truck to my friend. Then gave it to me.
I am semi restoring it, as to drive it as much as I can.
After a snag, I finally got the turn signal assembly together (with the help of Bolter Red58) and installed it onto the steering column of the '59. Over the weekend I reworked and installed the gas tank! More forward progress... a good thing! Jerry
Well work has kept me from working on my truck until tomorrow. If things go as planned I am going to be able to drive it under its own power again (well at least in the parking lot). Bleed breaks hook up gas linkage coolant you all the last min stuff.
Got the remainder of the rotted plywood sheet and rusted strips cut out using bolt cutters and I replaced the starter with a reman unit and main power cable w/ the cloth covered #1 from Jim Carter. She starts up just fine now! Still need to get another length of #0 cable and ring terminals tho so I can add the cutoff switch in. ...couldn't bring myself to cut up the expensive cable even tho it's plenty long.
Had a long day yesterday but I had a few minutes to work on the 'Burb, so I installed the barn door post contact. Now I'll take the door side and add some wire to connect to the light itself. Then a quick test to see how well that door grounds through the hinges and latches.
Got the front clip dissasembled yesterday! Not a fan of the upper outer grill screws... Also got the running boards and front bumper off.

The show has been mostly high end sports cars and I entered my truck to see how it would be received.

Rebuilt carb. Truck was hard to start before. It started right up. Yea. It could of been the warm weather. We did break freezing today. I hope it was rebuilding the carb. It doesn't weep gas like it did before.
