We have come down to one of the last items to be found or made for my 36 Suburban. Tailight mounts...they are gooseneck in shape..anyone know if these are made anymore or do I have to fashion them somehow..they are larger where they fit the body and smaller at end with licence plate holder ajnd light housing. Thanks for any info as always..Bruce (mtvoices)

Bruce,

You have the oldest Suburban among our members. We should all hold you in high regard, if not in awe.

You might want to check with the one other person who owns (or owned, actually) a Suburban listed in the Gallery. Most likely you have already tried this?

Another possibility is the VCCA discussion boards. You have to join that discussion group, but you do not have to join the VCCA. If you join the VCCA, you are then able to get advice from experts. I do not know if they have an expert with info on a second year Suburban.

Good luck. I hope someone responds with helpful information. Please let us know (and see) your progress.

Thanks, MNSmith,

That 1935 Suburban is the true winner of the oldest possible example of a Chevrolet Suburban.

GMONIZ,
The '36 Burb in the photo has panel truck doors installed instead of the original clamshell doors. Chevrolet did not offer a choice of rear doors on the Suburban until 1938.
If the license/tail lamp bracket was the item your were pointing out, It may not be the same as was used on the lower clamshell gate.

the tail lamp and tag bracket is different on the clam shell than the door model the clam shell sets off to the left on the lower rear 1/4 to clear the tail gate when it is lowered. i do not have enough parts to go back original as far as interior and running gear . so i am going to remove all the wood and change it to metal and up date the interior and dash and running gear hope to start on mine this mo.

Mike and Leonard are correct..my lower tailgate has a slight "goose necked" shaped arm that does attached to very lower round corner on left..so it does not hit gate when lowered. The 35 Red Prototype that Ed B owns and is selling, has the same arm..I probably will have to make these arms or stands..as we will have two tailights. Thanks tho to all who responded. Pics soon after the finished painting. mtvoices.

Group # 2.662, Part # 474814 Tail Lamp and License Bracket Assembly '35-'39 Used with Suburban Bodies (from 1941 Master Parts Catalog) Price $1.00
Do you want me to order one for you?
I have a '37 Burb with the bracket. It might be available for copying.

Is this what you are looking for? This one sold on ebay. But if you can get a loaner, you can take it to one of the many 3-D copying places that can make one in plastic that you can use for a mold. Try your local college and see what they can do to help you. They may be able to make one for you for a donation to the college.

It's only for the late 35's or an early 36 which my Suburban is...(made in Nov 35) so the later tailight arms are not right..this one is a goose necked S curved arm, and the licence plate holder and light fit to it., Kinda hard to make..but I know of a guy ho can make one.. it;s bigger on the end that fits to the body low corner on the right...then it reduces to the end where the light and plate holder fits. Thanks a lot for any info on this rare item...Bruce
