I just recently adopted a 1951 GMC water tanker truck. It might be a 2 ton or 1 1/2 ton? I don't have a lot of info on the truck. I still need to pick it up from a friends but I do have the title now in my name. I tried decoding the vin but cna't find very much info from that perhaps some could help here. I want to make it a flatbed farm truck. What are some good places for getting parts for these truck? Thanks! photobucket | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 Moderator | Moderator Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 4,185 | Welcome to the site, that truck sure looks heavier than a 1 1/2 ton, quite a workhorse.
There are lots of places to get parts, although it's always easier to find parts for the light trucks. Check the "Links" at the top of the page or put an ad in the swap meet section. If you need help with the VIN, you need to post your VIN or go to "Tech Tips" and scroll down to VINbusters.
Good luck with it.
