Anyone have experience with a aftermarket visor? I have one... One side fits tight but passenger side has a gap... Normal for aftermarket??
Thanks!

Got any pictures of it? I wouldn't think it should have gaps. What style/type are the clamps/hardware?

No clamps... It screws under the roof lip. It's sold by most of the regular suppliers

Larry, i put one on my 56. it did not fit correctly out of the box - the same gap, the curvature was not right. My body man had to cut/bend/re-weld/grind the passenger side to get it to fit. it came out great, but it was a bit of work. it is screwed to the lip above the windshield and i put some strip-caulk between it and the truck. I would tell anyone who asked this question that it is not an easy install.

visor mod

you are welcome to come by and see mine if you like

Where'd you buy yours? Unfortuately I bought it from Classic Parts who, in my experience has the WORST damage/return policy of ALL of the suppliers I've bought from.

It'd be nice to see someone who lives close by to actually drive up to the front door and ask them to come "fit it" on the truck, just to see what they'd say. Can't lie and argue with facts unless your the.....oops, can't get into politics here smile

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

i bought it at Classic parts too.. about 6 months ahead of when i needed it, so by the time i discovered it fit like crap, there was no way they would take it back. I wanted it anyway, so i just had the shop fix it...

Ya I'm beyond their "30 day and we need the original shipping box" too. I should have just said it doesn't fit so I want to return it. Their return policy is easy. Unlike when their warehouse packs things badly to begin with then you have to jump thru hoops when it was THEIR problem to begin with. Sorry for the rant but it just ticks me off when you spend thousands with a company and they won't cut you any slack. I'll let you know if they accept my damage claim.

I bought an after-market visor for my 56 also - and it did not fit until my body guy did a lot of mod to make it fit properly. Can't recall if it was Classic, but seems it was. That has been my experience with many of the metal parts that are not either NOS or original. Don't know if you will get anything any better from any of the other suppliers of after-market remakes. Good luck with Classic, sometimes you just have to be persistent until you get it to the right level. Had a similar experience once a long time ago with Jim Carter on other parts, and I got a personal message from Jim Carter who was most gracious, understood, and offered a full return. I ended up not using it --- but he's my benchmark - Dale

Good news! Classic Parts did, in fact, come thru and gave me a damage credit... Thank you to Alex. My aplogies for my earlier rant. I received the replacement and it fits nicely. All is good.
