I have decided to use Jim Carters upholstery kits and cover my own seat frames.I'm using Spanish brown grain.
Here are some photos of the lower jump seat cushion.

If you guys want me to post all the cushions as I do them, just say so and I will add it to this thread.

drew,

Wait to hear from Tim in response to the hog ring question.

What I think I see/read (from Tim's two posts on this project) is that hog rings were used for layers under the upholstery and the original-style c-clips were used for the upholstery.

I used original style c-clips that Tim Lederman linked to above on the upholstery material.I used the hog rings on the layers under the cotton and upholstery.

To use hog rings,I believe there is wire that is fed into the bead material.I watched a lot of you tube videos on upholstery and decided I would try it myself.

The other post I have concerns the reproduction seat cushion I built and the seat frame Elhippie64 built. The rest of the seats and cushions will be posted in this thread.

Thanks for the kind words and I will be posting more soon.

Thanks,Tim

Tim

Are the seats in you suburban comprised of a 3/4 bench seat and a jump seat? If so does Jim Carter have the kit to re-upholster them? Thanks for the help

God bless,

Dave

Yes it's just as you describe and yes I purchased from Jim Carter.I have a problem with the fitment of the jump seat back rest upholstery and both middle seat cushions.

I talked to Jim Saturday and I will be dropping the seat cushions off to the guy that makes the upholstery. You might want to wait on ordering them until I report back on the fix.

Say Tim, I looked on the Jim Carter website and even called them and they said they don't carry Panel seat kits..... do you have more info on them?

Thanks!

I'm sorry I don't know anything about panel seats. My thread is all about suburban seats.Do you know if the panels used the same type of material and color ?

Mmmm.... Sorry when I looked at the photos I saw a bucket. Presumed it was a panel. So is a Suburban Jump Seat the same as a panel passenger seat???

Larry, the burb jump seat has a "pipe' frame that folds/tips forward to allow entry to the rear area - also the burb jump seat is narrower than the panel driver seat and didn't have the solid back that curved around at the hinge point like what you have

Thx Bill.. For my Panel... I have two driver's seats and one passenger seat (all needing work)... I was thinking of installing the two driver's seats up front (they have the slide adjustments) and then adding the passenger seat as a third jump seat in back.... but it sounds like a burb jump seat would be better as it has the fold/tip feature vs. just the tip forward of a passenger seat. But as I'm writing this, I'm wondering if the burb pipe frame could be adapted to a panel passenger seat...

BTW, I really appreciate everyone's help and suggestions... going from a 56 pickup to a panel gives me some basic TF knowledge but I'm still learning about Panel stuff....

BTW II... I just realized that I hijacked this thread... My apologies.

yes it would work Larry - you could try making your own frame, but finding one might be tough

The upholstery shop did confirm the back cushion of the jump seat and both middle cushions upholstery were wrong.I let them make new patterns off of my original cushions.

Jim Carter told the upholstery shop to go ahead and install the upholstery for all my trouble. He's taking care of the bill on it as well, you can't beat that.

I will post photos of the seat cushions soon.

Thanks,Tim
