In another post somebody was asking about a canister behind the seat in which someone replied that is was the Hydro-Vac Breather.

I didn't remember seeing anything like that behind my seat so I went out and checked and sure enough, it's missing....My truck is a 1966 C60. Where can I purchase a complete breather assembly? There is nothing but the tube coming up behind the seat. Thanks...

Hy Iron Clad, the o.e.m. p/n for the "cleaner, vacuum power brake cylinder" is 6423782, my 1962 - 72 parts book shows it being used at least as late as 1972. I could not cross the number at Napa, hope that helps.

Thanks 3B. I called NAPA and they didn't have it in their catalogs but the attendant said he would call around tomorrow and see if he could locate one. The people at our local NAPA are top notch! If I cannot locate one, perhaps it would be possible to fabricate one? I need to see what the assembly looks like....

It's been 30 years,since I operated that 1960 Apache 60 dump truck,but as I recall,the cap almost resembles a metal cap for a spray-paint can. It-s about that size diameter,but with a rounded top. The cap appeared to be packed with steel wool.( Kind of like an old oil-breather cap.)
I figured this was an air filter, so once every 6-months,I would rinse it out with gasoline,let it air-dry,then lightly coat the "steel wool" with motor oil. Hope this helps. Hey-come to think of it...an old valve-cover breather cap just might be the same thing! Hmmmm. Good-luck!!

Some hydrovacs came with the filter attached directly inside the control body instead of the most often seen tube exiting.

Here's a link to the breather that is in my COE. I swapped out the old horse hair looking crap for a more modern filter from a small yard tractor and added a rubber washer to seal it up when put back together. There are about 4 pics showing what they look like inside and out.

Most of the breathers I've seen are located on the firewall, not behind the seat.
