How is the AD dash attached to the cab? Bolted or welded? Would like to get behind it to rewire the gauges but with it in position its kind of tough.

It is spot welded all around the windshield area and inside where it curves by the doors. All of us who have spent any time on these trucks have gone through this. I can make a couple suggestions to make it easier. Work from left to right as you put the parts in so gauges, then speedo, then radio grill, then glovebox. It also can help to remove the shifter and the seat so you can move around better.

Thanks Brad. Everything is in but it needs new wiring in that area. I'll rewire it myself as its pretty simple but being six feet five inches tall makes it difficult. I'll take out the seat and perhaps put a sheet of plywood on the seat riser. How difficult is it to remove the shifter (3 speed - column)?

No need on the column shift I meant if it has a floor shift. It will help with the seat out and the plywood because you can lay flat and reach-up. Another tip is get one of those headlamps for your head so you see right where you are looking and free up your hands. Also you can remove the pedals/shafts they are only held on with a bolt each.

dissamble all the electrical parts from the dash , place them on the bench and wire it. then transfer loom back into the cab . wiring going to engine and rear lights can be terminated in a plug then continue with the rest of the truck. makes life easier cost 2 or 3 plugs and no sore back.
