Replaced the fuel pressure regulator on the '67. Hope to increase mpg from 15 to around 20. Truck has one of the early 90's Vortec engines that are prone to leaking FPRs and wasting fuel. Will see what happens.

Went looking for parts for the 55 on Sat.(fuse block,digital dash,etc.)Stopped to see a friend of mine who builds street rods.He is just starting on a 32 Phord pickup,which will have a big block Chevy and Turbo 400 in it.Looks like about a years worth of work to do.Very interesting day.

Saturday - finished up getting all the interior lights working and took my granddaughter to see The Incredibles. Today I'll attempt to find fuel gauge problem; not for sure if it is gauge or sender since I had a mix of 6 and 12 volt bulbs in dash. Truck is now 12 volts, hence most of those problems.

been working on my GMC Ralley Van with a 6.2 in it, been forever it seems. Think I am down to the last repairs before I take the old gal on a shakedown cruise to Chicago next weekend. Got a new great nephew that was born last week. But I did have a stovebolt moment yesterday. I gave a couple old jewelery boxes to my two youngest daughters. In one, I found the title to my 41 Chevy truck. Back to the van for now. Mike

Got a call at 345 am that our youngest daughter was on her way to the hospital to give birth to our 3rd grandchild (a girl). Her husband and our oldest daughter is with her while we baby sit the other two grandkids. Almost 2:00 pm and no news to report yet---yep, quite an exciting weekend!

Here in wisconsin its deer hunting season.Itook the week off not to hunt but to hope fully work on my trucks.I spent a half a day at a junk yard searching for vehicles that arent there anymore but have been crushed.Now i just heard that in the area i useualy hunt that some one is rideing around on an atv shooting hunters.So far 5 dead 8 injured and 12 missing.The shooter is still at large.Even if i dont get much done this week im thankfull i didnt go hunting.

Me and the wife sanded down the sides, fenders, front-board, and tailgate of our 66 c10 stepside and epoxy primered them. It's been a productive weekend

Got under the 39 to take a photo for classic finn and fount one rear spring shackle was commin' apart!!!!

So sick as I am got the truck jacked up and blacksmith'd the mess into something safe.....till I can get a new shackle set!

Man I'm glad it didn't come apart in the Freeway!!!!!!!!

Why isn't this story getting national attention???

This weekend was a Stovebolt weekend for us. Tony sold his engine and Stovebolter Ed came from Ill. to pick it up. His two brother inlaws came with him. Than Stovebolter Tim Sager and his wife Lori, came to visit from 200 miles from us. We had a ball. Sunday morning I got the 45 2 ton out and gave Lori a ride around the block, than Tony and Tim took a ride. I wanted Tim to drive it but his rule is to not drive anyone elses truck, just in case. :rolleyes: They are good Stovebolters and I hope to see them again next summer.

Back to the school grind after a week off. (That's besides working full time.) No chance to mess with the truck for a few weeks again. This class is website construction, so guess what my website is all about! Once I get it done, I will see if my ISP allows me enough hosting space to put it out on the web. Then you can all see what I'm up to with the '47 panel.

COEJunkie - Well, I certainly hope things improved . If not, just think of what a fond memory it will make as you retell you Stovebolt Tales!

The reason I stick it up on Saturday "Whadja Do?" -- well, I can't even remember what I did on Saturday after Sunday gets started. That's why it's a weekend report -- it can last until ... the next weekend!!

The title of this thread changed from a weekend report to a general Whatja do today. Easier.

I drove the 48 up on the ramps to adjust the clutch last week and then it started raining and snowing. After a couple of days of snow and rain, the ramps sank into the ground and my truck is parked in a lake. So much for the clutch. I was supposed to take pictures of my e-brake system for fellow stovebloter Hans, but I couldn't hold my breath long enough to get a shot off Sorry Hans!! I will tie the tractor to it and drag it to dry land and get those shots for you. Scott, I am interested in your mileage problems with your Vortec truck. I have a 99 I just traded for and its only getting 11 mpg with normal driving. Its a 3/4 ton, crew cab, 4x4 with a 5.7, but I think that is should be a little better than that. I e-mailed Hotrod Lincoln and he gave me some ideas to try, but I have been rained out. I neeeeeeed a shop.

Sunday I picked up a 3/8s-24 tap and fixed the buggered zerk hole. Cleaned things up a bit, put it together and squirted in some grease.

Today I drive my '55 1st Suburban to work for the first time is several months.

Several months ago I started remodeling the kitchen. This next weekend I'm supposed to finish it. Any Stovebolt related activity next weekend will be chasing parts for the kitchen...

Sanded primer on the cab,and doors. I Swear one day I will get this truck painted and put back together. The Warden wants a new house, so I gotta get the truck put back together. She doesn't understand 6/12's doesn't leave a lot of free time. LOL!! I must be nuts.

well, let's see... went and picked up a bunch of stuff from my parent's before they move to wyoming, includeing a 69 Datsun 1600 roadster, and a cast iron stove, bunches of leggo's for my almost 4 year old...

On the way back to Austin from Kansas, stopped by a fellow bolter in Ennis (tree91) and picked up a wonderful replacement engine for Gus, still in the truckbed under the tarp cause of all this darn rain... but I'll get it unlodaded tonight, one way or another... thanks stovebolt, swapmeet saves the day!

About all I accomplished old truck wise (I attempted nothing on either Stovebolt) was to frig unsuccessfully with the inoperable taillights of a certain F-350 that was left on the doorstep of the Stovebolt Headquarters a couple of weeks ago.

I did chain the '60 M-101 military trailer to the back of the tractor to haul leaves in -- does that count for anything??

Next fall when you and Carolyn come visit, you'll see why we don't burn leaves.

I remember as a kid raking leaves in the yard to burn - and it was fun - and an easy way to get rid of them. We had a normal size yard and a normal amoutn of leaves.

We have a LOT of leaves.

Went up to our weekend home and cleaned up the garage. I have a lot of parts and they needed to be sorted and boxed for future use. Wow, I have been collecting a lot of parts! Got my digital camera to work and starting taking the pictures that I have wanted to take for a long time. Thought about getting the suburban running just to get it warm, but it got dark and I was tired. I did manage to get to the 1939 tail lights and sort out the best for installation on the burb. I tried the 1940 signal lights in the rear, I think they are too small for the application and will look just fine in the front on top of the fender for front signals.

Saturday we had an 8 person dinner party and feasted on stuffed roasted game hens, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and rolls, with apple crisp & whipped cream for dessert. My wife is a heck of a cook. Sunday I took the bbq grill propane tank to be filled with the stovebolt, propane is $2/gallon around here. Found out by accident that the headlight on my motorcycle blew out last time I was out riding when I moved it so I could do a woodworking project in the garage. I'm building a piece of furniture for a friend out of birch, a combination of plywood and solid pieces cut out of a plank. I've been enjoying my new planer and router table.

Went into my garage and said hello to my 53 then walked next door to my neighbor's garage and spoke to my 49. Too many wet leaves on the road to want to drive and if i do i don't have room to clean them off. Sure miss driving them though, hopefully soon.

Ate some food, watched some racing, ate some more food then watched some football. Oh, I got a 2nd place trophy at the car show too.

Spent Saturday getting my loader tractor put back together in case it does decide to snow. Had to replace the manifold on a 1953 Minneapolis Moline UB. The replacement was off a newer tractor, and although it bolted right up, there were still a couple differences to work out. Needed to shorten up the throttle linkage and mess with the muffler a little bit.

The '47 is put away for the winter, but a couple other things are in the shop to work on- a John Deere tractor, and a IH (sorry guys!)truck. We'll have to see how much I actually get accomplished. I'm involved in too many other things!

My wife and I drove the Chickbolt to Willcox Arizona for lunch, then to Sierra Vista for the evening, then drove back to the coast the next morning, around 1100 miles total.

We stopped at a car dealer in Escondido and looked at Impala's. They even have two of those funny looking ssr? pukeup's there...

I decided I want an Impala SS to drive to work.

well, let's do the whole week, since that was my vacation, but to save y'all some aggravation, I'll just cover the auto-related stuff.

Tuesday, drove 5 hours to pick up the girlfriend in the Olds. she purred like a kitten at 80 mph over back country roads to Purdue and got me 24 mpg. Pretty happy about that

Wednesday-sunday, cleaned out the pole barn (with a small break to fix the olds, which I'll explain later). Now there's enough room to bring the CJ out from the old house and put both it and the truck in there

Wednesday - it snowed. Had some fun with the Olds and the truck in the snow. I realized why people don't drive trucks in the winter. can you say NO traction? And that's granny clutching and with new tires.

Friday - the Olds bumper fell off! yeah, that's right, the aluminum core rotted through on the left side, and that side was hanging about a foot lower than the right, which was also rotting. That's why I took a break from cleaning the pole barn, I shoved everything out of the way, pulled in the Olds and got to work. Had to bolt 2 aluminum plates to the core support of the bumper to mount the 8 mounting screws that bolt into the frame horns. Now the darn thing won't EVER come off.

Saturday - got into a race with my g/f's dad Yeah, that's right. He asked how fast my car was, and he wanted to race me with his ford. Yeah, that's right. It was a draw, but he was pretty amazed at the smoke pouring out of the rearend.

After dusting off some turkey and pie I used a Stovebolt Friday to collect some parts from Ace. And then bought myself some time to play with my trucks by painting the kitchen and putting in new cabinets.

That went over well enough I might get a new shop out of the deal...

Well I'll add to the topic for weekend of 27/28. The 54 was popping back thru the carburator. So I pulled the valve cover and found I apparently didn't tighten the lock nut on #5 exhaust valve. Got lucky adjust screw and lock nut laying right there undamaged. Push rod undamaged. Threads in rocker arm damaged, had to wait until monday to get tap to restore threads. Rethreaded put adjuster back in place everything seems fine. Must remmember to double check all lock nuts in future. No Damage I'm Happy.

11/27-Thought I'd take the oportunity to get to get the 46 out and run up to the "refreshment" store. Immediately dissapointed though. Turned over slow and had to use the charger to get it going. Let it fun for a while and then drove it to the store. The motor runs great but I am still having trouble with the clutch and it wouldn't start at the store. I had to roll start it, luckily I parked it on a grade. So it was nice to get the beast out for a spin, but I still have some problems to work on. I guess with these old trucks there is always something that needs to be done.

I'm looking forward to this weekend. After tomorrow my life will be back to normal. NO MORE EXAMS!!!! I'm excited. I had my truck taken away as some might remember in an earlier post and I actually got it back early. My parents were pleased with my progress in school. This weekend will be the best of all, Saturday I�m going snowboarding up at Whistler and Sunday is homework (EWWW!!) and workin' on the 'bolt (YAY!!). I love winter. Working on the truck in 2 Degree Celsius weather and snowboarding. Hope you all have a good weekend and the rest of the week.

Well, spent time most of the weekend trying to re-do my 2 car garage. Built a new work bench, the 1 that was there when I bought the house was too low. I'm going to try to hang my compressor between the rafters to get some room. The shelves that held most of the small parts from the 50 I stripped down to the frame collasped and dumped everything on the floor. I'm trying to get enought room to store the 49, tear down the 56 235 on the stand, and keep the wife's van inside during the winter. Had to take daughter's #1 and #2 to urgent care Sat morning, #1 has strep throat, #2 just a cold and sore throat. Spent the rest of the weekend catering to the needs of sick kids.

Life at the Corn's hectic as usual but I did take a couple hrs to start working on installing my 16 gal. Summit Racing gas tank. I have started taking pictures of the process and will be writing a tech tip article. Pretty straight forward but learning as I go. Ben

Okay, yooos guys. Lots of you had good weather.

What kind of truck stuff did you accomplish / try / wish for / dream up / scheme up ...

I was able to work on the big '49 but not too much. Taking 3 steering columns and making one good one (hopefully). Mostly just got one disassembled and cleaned. The second I'll use as a "how do I put this back together?"

The rest of the weekend was family, shooting various fire arms with male family members, and then working in the trees!

put the carb back on my '68 C60. Snapped off a stud and didnt replace teh gasket, so I have a non-sealed, 3-studded rochester two barrel on my smallblock...could this be why it's running like crap all of a sudden?

Installed a universal crossmember under my T5 tranny yesterday. I had a really bad vibration at about 70mph. It seemed to help alot but there is still a vibration there. I think the driveshaft is out of balance :mad: (brand new). Drove the truck to run some errands. Got lots of compliments.

Mine had been under restoration for almost three years--I drove it to my very first car show!

What Peggy (um, I mean ME!!) forgot to mention above is that Saturday, instead of going to the ATHS show in Frederick, I went with some of the other ATHS guys to the Tool Collectors' Field Day at Parlett's. I had the only Stovebolt there, but the other guys brought a Binder fire truck, a fifty-something F100 and a B-61 Mack (The one I missed in the sealed bid auction by SIX BUCKS )
