I think it depends on the post you respond to. It's no big deal,I responded on the "What did you" thread and it came up with "The new paint" heading.

The original plan was to just take the door off, then take half the hinge off, but that didn't work. 47 years of rust didn't want to give way. So, I got the door back on with the new door pins with the copper bushings... however, of course the alignment is now screwed up. Which is why I started this project to start with... always something new to learn with an old truck. more details here: 64-66 door hinge pin tips ? -W | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | I took the door and the door hinges off of my '65 c10. Went to turn over the '59 for the first time last night. Got a huge flash and spark out of the starter and then nothing. It was a new starter I had just purchased for it. I had a bad feeling as I took it out of the box and saw a "Made in Mexico" sticker on it. At least it has a lifetime warranty on it. The replacement should be in today........

I have thought many times the crappy starters are a mechanic's dream. They come with a long warranty but if you are not mechanically tuned you'll pay to have them installed. My 86 Grand Waggoneer with a 360 cid coughed up at least 8 starters by the time I sold it in 2006. I got pretty good bolting them on. If there was an Olympic "installing starters" game I'd have several gold metals.

Bill My first car I bought at age 17, the salesman told me it was a one owner (8 years old), owned by an old maid school teacher that lived close to the school and walked to work, and drove the car only on Sundays.lol

I'm thankful for the '58 donor truck I acquired so I can select the best components for restoration. The '59 door shells are the best but as would be expected, the bottoms need replacing... Looks like I'll get to try out that new HF flux wire welder I bought on sale, anticipating this! I'm just thankful the rework will be on the bottom, as I've never in my life welded before! SHEESH! On the way there, picked up a 73 Camaro Z28 rear end with 3.73 posi gears. Lucked out since seller was asking $400 a month ago on Craigslist and i think he scared everyone off with that price. Saw it still posted last week and I offered him $200. Brought the baby and my son home. That should complete my driveline - except for driveshaft. Going to run the 216, with a hybrid T5, and 3.73s. A good day. Today i will remove rusted out right side running board and rear fender off my '51.

On the lighter side, before I took the carb off, I successfully repaired a used dwell/tach that I purchased on ebay. This should be helpful as I continue to work on my 'bolt.

Back in the day, we would buy our wetting agent from a firm in Colorado to use in stem-dying flowers. It finally dawned on me, after close examination, that this stuff we were paying a premium for was nothing more than powdered detergent that we use in washing clothes, such as Tide. It would seem strange to me to put any soap in the radiator, if that is what this is. I would imagine it would be foaming like a mad-dog.
