The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Big Bolts Having Trouble Finding a Simple Part ??

I need new Front Brake Hoses for my '72 C-30 with Dual Rear Wheels. I just started looking today, but so far no luck. They should be the same for '71's, as well as '71 and '72 C-20's.

Any info would be appreciated.

rockauto.com probably has them. If you have a manufacturer's part number (Raybestos, Bendix, etc) it could be easier to find it there. Same with NAPA most times.

Napa shows 36678 & 36679 for 71 models both 20 & 30 series. For some reason they don't show anything for 72 or 73.

Yeah, I've checked with Rock Auto and they either didn't have any or just had one. Same with NAPA, it was a no-go there too. I've been doing more research since my earlier post and I can find the left side using the original GM part number, but not the right.

Also found out that I can get them for the '71 and '72 in Foreign Reproductions for a C-20 but the Vendors, so far anyway, can't tell me if they are the same for a C-30 or not, but in the meantime my Chevrolet Parts Book states that the C-20 and the C-30 are the same for Conventional Cab trucks.

But to add more confusion, the Chevy Parts Book states a different part number for '71 then '72.

It lists:

'71 6271233 LH
6271234 RH

'72 6274061 LH
6274062 RH

It looks like I'll be able to use the Interchange info from the Parts Book and go with Repro ones, but I haven't had the best luck with foreign rubber before and when I asked about a guarantee, she said that they were "6 months" which didn't make me feel much better about it.

Maybe that is why GM has different part numbers for them. Something must be different, but so far, no one knows what. I always thought the 2 trucks were exactly the same. Some of the Vendors are combining their numbers for both though.

...I'll keep trying, lol.

I just called O'Reilly's and no luck there either, but he told me something interesting. He said he can send them out to be made up, with US rubber yet.

...Might be a good alternative.

No one has those. I went through this several years ago for my '72 C30. You can have them made easily enough, but there are clearence issues and the caliper will need to be grond down to fit the new square portion the banjo bolts go through, rather than the original type with the round fitting and ear that aligns it.

Jim Carter is the only vendor who had them made for awhile and I'm not sure they still offer them.

Out of co-incidence, I was checking on Jim Carter's about the same exact time that you were replying.

I noticed some nice words on the same page that you have listed: "Made in the USA".

I just called and asked if it was actually US rubber and the girl wasn't sure, but that's good enough for me. I'm going to order them.

I thought this was all something that was recent, but I see that you had this problem close to 6 years ago.

Napa does have a picture book and a diminshien book each a seperate book, you have to get someone to use them however, I had a young man bring out the dimension book and we found a hose for a 34 ford 1 ton so it can eb done.
