Missed out on a couple trucks. Back home in the winter of 2010 still looking. A friend kept finding and buying trucks and offered to find me a truck. Well in October 2010 I bought the '55 1st series. The truck is a rust free southern Idaho truck. The truck was all together but did no run and the brake peddle went to the floor. I started out working on the original engine and the brakes. Just wanted a driver. Replaced the brakes then concentrated getting it running. A friend had 261 engine from a 1962 two ton truck that needed rebuild. I also had a 1985 T5 transmission. The engine is now rebuilt, installed with the T5 transmission. Really a fun truck. Love the sound of the inline 6 with dual exhaust.

Heater works great and has a valve for shutting off the heat, but it has been a hot summer here in Meridian Idaho. I want to install air conditioning in the truck. All that work rebuilding, powder coating and installing the heater may for not. New winter project is air conditiong system in the truck. | | | | Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 237 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 237 | Air conditioning system for the truck has been put on hold. On December 21st, the truck was put on a body shop for painting. The body shop guy does great work. He told me the truck will be finished in about 4 or 5 months. The time frame is ok with me as I'll have the truck back in the spring. He is a full time fireman in the local Idaho town, thus the stay in the shop will be an extended stay. All the chrome trim has been removed. The box, rear fenders and running boards have been removed. The door hinges have been rebuilt and the doors aligned. The saga for the painting process continues.
